The Phantom Tollbooth ( Chapters 1-13; Pgs- 160)
Milo came home to a huge box just sitting in the middle of his room. Inside that box sits a tollbooth. In The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster, a young, bored boy, Milo, finds himself in a magical world after transporting through a tollbooth. He is in the Kingdom of Wisdom and meets two friends, Tock and the Humbug. The trio is on a journey to save Princess Rhyme and Princess Reason, for that is what King Azaz told them to do. On the way, the group faces many tasks and challenges which if completed, get them one step closer to the princesses. I can’t wait to finish the next half of the book soon!
Catching Fire (391 pages)
There are twelve unfortunate events in the arena, each happening twice a day. In Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins, Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch learn that two of them, a male and female, will be competing in the Quarter Quell or 75th Hunger Games. This rule automatically enters Katniss. It turns out, the Head Gamekeeper, Plutarch Heavensbee, is really on the side of the districts, not the Capitol, and tries to help the tributes plan their escape. The only problem is that Katniss and Peeta don’t know about the arrangement until it happens. Read the book to see if the escape plan works or the Gamekeeper and tributes are caught.
